Volunteer
The RFWA values the support of its tireless volunteers who play an active role in changing the direction of people’s lives who are recovering from mental illness.
The opportunity to volunteer with the RFWA not only makes a significant difference in the lives of people with a mental illness, it also gives you the chance to develop your skills, make new friends, and experience the reward and satisfaction of making a direct and valuable contribution to your community.
The RFWA offers you a diverse array of volunteer opportunities including:
o Mentoring Being a mentor to someone on the road to recovery can be very rewarding. Meet up for a drink, go for walks, or share a common interest or many other activities. The sharing of social skills is a vital component to recovery.
o Teaching If you have a skill you would like to share, feel free to teach it to our recovery participants. Whether it is literacy, surfing or some other specialist skill, whether you wish to teach on a one on one or group basis, we would love to have you with us.
o Fundraising events Whether it’s a community raffle, movie night or a formal dinner, fundraising events is an exciting way to get your local community involved and raise much appreciated funds for the RFWA.
o Improvements If you would like to volunteer your expertise to improve one of our sites, or the residence of one of our recovery participants, such as gardening, painting, or some other practical
o Other Ideas If you have any other ideas of what you could give to either the Richmond Fellowship or its recovery participants, please let us know!
