Hearing Voices Group Updates
We bring you news on Hearing Voices Network Australia (HVNA). They have a number of Hearing Voices Groups in the Bassendean, Queens Park, Joondalup, Subiaco, Mandurah, Bunbury and Busselton areas.
HVNA also assist the Young People’s Hearing Voices Group, which meets at The Lorikeet Centre every Monday from 3:30pm – 5pm. The Lorikeet Centre staff currently facilitate this group, with assistance from the HVNA. HVNA staff and Lorikeet staff hope to organise some presentations to local organisations about the Young People’s HV Group in the next few months.
In relation to training, Marlene Janssen, Coordinator of HVNA, is developing a 1-day voice hearers workshop, which will be held for voice hearers only. The aim is to introduce coping strategies and skills needed to be able to cope and make sense of the voice hearing experience. The demand for this training has been out there for a while, and initially HVNA will run the workshop for all RFWA residents/clients only.
